Samsung has completed mass production of its Bot Fit robot, slated for release in the third quarter of 2024.
In 2019, Samsung unveiled GEMS Hip, a robotic exoskeleton designed to be worn from the hips to the knees to help people walk, exercise and improve their gait. The GEMS Hip was expected to be released in limited quantities in December 2022, with mass production starting in the second half of 2022. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Samsung renamed it to Bot Fit in November 2023.
Here's What We Know
According to The Chosun Daily, Samsung has completed the development and mass production of the Bot Fit and the company plans to launch the robotic assistant in the third quarter of this year. This means that the tech giant will bring the Bot Fit to the market in August or September 2024.
Previous reports claimed that Samsung planned to produce 100,000 units of Bot Fit in the first batch. So the robotic assistant is expected to be available in limited quantities. Although there is no information about how much it costs, we can assume that it will be expensive as it is an advanced technology and a rare type of product.
The main function of Bot Fit is to help people with mobility problems who need help walking. However, the robotic assistant offers various benefits for ordinary people as well, such as reducing metabolic effort when walking by 24 per cent, speeding up walking speed by 14 per cent, tracking walking patterns and suggesting improvements, and helping with exercise.
