Samsung is demanding that repair shops destroy gadgets that use non-genuine parts

Previously, many accused Apple of preventing devices from being repaired at third-party service centres and using unofficial parts. As it turns out, Samsung can easily rub its nose in this issue.

Details

Edition 404 Media came across a contract that third-party repair shops are required to sign in exchange for supplying original components directly from Samsung.

The first clause is the transfer of a lot of customer data. Samsung is required to hand over to it the customer's name, contact information, describe the reason for complaints and details about the nature of the breakdown.

The second point is even "better". If the specialist found that the gadget was previously repaired using non-original components, he must immediately inform Samsung about the customer. In addition, the master is obliged to disassemble this device, effectively destroying it.

The contract states:

""Company shall immediately disassemble all products that are created or assembled out of, comprised of, or that contain any Service Parts not purchased from Samsung (with the exception of those Service Parts described above) and shall immediately notify Samsung in writing of the details and circumstances of any unauthorized use or misappropriation of any Service Part for any purpose other than pursuant to this Agreement. Samsung may terminate this Agreement if these terms are violated""

Incidentally, a little earlier, iFixit lab, which specialises in device repair, iFixit stops working with Samsung due to high prices and parts availability issues, citing the unreasonably high cost of spare parts and the company's continued practice of being inconsistent with the right to repair. Whether this is actually related to the aforementioned contract is unknown.
