Tesla increases greenhouse gas emissions by 20% in 2023

Last year, Tesla's greenhouse gas emissions increased by 20%. According to the company's latest impact report, Tesla was responsible for more than 50 million metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, representing an approximate 20% increase in pollution compared to the previous year.

Here's What We Know

Tesla says it is actively working to achieve zero greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible. However, the report shows that the company is now moving in a different direction.

Earlier this month, Tesla was the subject of a lawsuit filed by an environmental non-profit organisation that accused the company of violating the federal Clean Air Act over emissions from its Fremont, California, factory.

According to the complaint, Tesla exposed residents near the plant, as well as its employees, to excessive exposure to nitrogen oxides, arsenic, cadmium and other harmful chemicals, mainly through the operation of the paint shop.

Tesla has acknowledged the problems with increasing greenhouse gas emissions and said that more investment may be needed to comply with new regulations to reduce pollution.
