Nueralink Mask is looking for more patients for brain implants
Elon Musk's Neuralink is looking for more patients to take part in a study that aims to alleviate paralysis-related disabilities. The company announced plans to recruit three participants for a long-term study of brain chips that allow people to interact with digital devices using their brains.
Here's What We Know
In March of this year, Noland Arbeau, who has paralysis from the shoulders down, shared his experience on social media about being able to play chess using a Neuralink implant using only his mind.
Regulators and researchers have expressed some reservations about Musk's initial data collection practices, but the FDA has declined to comment on the issue.
Interested individuals must be between the ages of 22 and 75 and suffer from quadriplegia or other movement limitations affecting the hands and wrists. The first phase of the study will begin in January and is expected to be completed by 2026. The final completion of the project is planned for 2031.
