Valve is actively working to bring screen recording functionality to the Steam gaming platform

Valve, known for its Steam game distribution platform, is actively working on creating a screen recording feature in games. This is reported by SteamDB creator and dataminer Pavel Djundik. This innovation will allow players to easily share their gaming achievements and moments directly in the Steam community.

Here's What We Know

Until now, recording gameplay has required the use of third-party programmes or tools such as Microsoft's Game Bar or special software from graphics card manufacturers.

Nowadays, by using the F12 key in Steam overlay-enabled games, you can take screenshots for easy sharing on social media or the Steam community. Additionally, each account provides 1GB of cloud storage for game screenshots, settings, saves, profile stats, and more. The new feature promises to be as easy to use as the existing screenshot sharing feature available to Steam users since 2011.

One of the features of the upcoming feature is background recording, which will allow players to record a game without having to manually start recording each time. A timeline labelling feature is also expected to be introduced, making it easier to find and share interesting moments in the game.

Details about the release date and additional features are being kept secret for now. This innovation promises to greatly simplify the process of sharing game moments and make it more accessible to a wider audience.
