Spanish companies team up to develop new drone defence system

Spanish firms Escribano, Indra and TRC have signed an agreement to develop a new anti-drone system for the Spanish Armed Forces.

Here's What We Know

The companies will create a system with radar, optics and radio frequency technology to protect Madrid's troops during operations. In addition, the new system will have artificial intelligence-based command and control systems. The agreement will formalise the creation of a joint venture between Escribano and Indra, with TRC as a partner. The timeline for completion of the project is still unknown.

The companies have a history of developing anti-drone weapons for the Spanish armed forces. The Indra Crow system, created for the Spanish Air Force, can destroy threats in seconds thanks to its high-precision radar and optoelectronic systems.

Escribano and TRC have also collaborated on the development of the Cervus anti-personnel aircraft system, demonstrating it last year at the International Defence and Security Fair in Madrid.
