"Golden Age" of the Roman Empire, two starting locations and big plans for post-release support: important details of Anno 117: Pax Romana have been revealed
A couple of days ago during the Ubisoft Forward presentation the new part of the city-building strategy game Anno was announced.
At the show the audience was shown only a short trailer, which did not reveal anything except the fact that the game events will unfold in the Roman Empire.
However, journalists of Gamestar portal managed to find out more details.
Here's What We Know
Anno fans know that according to the idea of the game developers, the sum of numbers in the title of each part is always equal to nine, and the new Anno 117: Pax Romana will not be an exception.
This date was chosen because this year was the peak of the Roman Empire's development and power. In addition, in 117 Publius Aelius Traianus Hadrianus, a prominent Roman senator who ruled his lands with dignity, came to power.
In Anno 117: Pax Romana the developers will offer two starting regions to choose from:
- Lazio - is a bastion of culture and civilisation and will provide players with a measured gameplay without serious challenges and the need to think through every step.
- British Albion will be a worthy challenge even for experienced players. The developers called it jokingly "the worst nightmare of every civilised citizen of the Roman Empire".
Creative director of the project Manuel Reinher noted that the original version of Anno 117: Pax Romana will offer much less content than Anno 1800 currently has, as the 2019 game has been regularly updated with updates and DLC all along. But globally, Ubisoft aims to surpass the previous part and eventually fill the new strategy with a huge amount of exciting content.
Another important nuance is that Anno 117: Pax Romana is the first game of the series, which is being developed simultaneously for PC and consoles. Past parts of the strategy, if ported to PlayStation and Xbox, then much later than the release on PC. Due to the specifics of the genre, the developers prioritise the PC-version.
When We Can Expect It
The exact release date of Anno 117: Pax Romana is not named, the game should be released in 2025 on MS, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.
If you haven't seen the Anno 117: Pax Romana announcement trailer, correct that oversight: you can stare at it forever:
