The Romanian Army has received the first Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones into service

The first batch of Bayraktar TB2 drones has arrived in Romania.

The information was shared by the publication Defence Romania. It is not yet said how many UAVs the Romanian army received. It is only known that the purchase provides for three systems, which will consist of three control centres and 18 drones. By the way, Romania signed a contract to supply UAVs in 2022. The amount of the deal was $321 million.

Bayraktar TB2 is a Turkish medium-range unmanned aerial vehicle developed by Baykar Technologies. It is designed for reconnaissance, surveillance and strike missions. The TB2 is equipped with advanced sensors including electro-optical and infrared cameras, as well as laser rangefinders and target designators. The UAV can carry a variety of weapons, including guided missiles and bombs, enabling it to perform pinpoint strikes against ground targets. The UAV has a range of up to 150 kilometres. It can stay in the air for up to 27 hours. By the way, Ukraine has been actively using Bayraktar TB2 since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion on 24 February 2022.
