Romania may transfer additional Patriot air defence system to Ukraine

The Romanian parliament received a bill from the Ministry of Defence on the transfer of the Patriot system to Ukraine as part of military assistance.

Here's What We Know

Parliament will consider the draft law during the autumn session, which begins on 2 September.

Bucharest has purchased 7 state-of-the-art Patriot systems from the United States, one of which is planned to be transferred to us. Romania has already received four of them, and three more will be delivered in the near future

It is worth noting that Romania is ready to transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine only if the United States compensates with a similar or equivalent system that "meets the needs of protecting national airspace, modernising the Romanian army and guaranteeing interoperability with the NATO system".
