Lots of ambition and little experience: the Italian souls-like Enotria: The Last Song gets low-key positive reviews

Ambitious action-RPG Enotria: The Last Song from a small Italian studio Jyamma Games has been released on Steam.

On PlayStation 5 and in Epic Games Store the release of the novelty will take place on the 19th of September, so, we are sure, many gamers will be interested to know the critics' opinion about it.

Here's What We Know

Enotria: The Last Song aroused interest long before the release, because the project, based on the Mediterranean folklore, looked fresh and bright against the background of the same type of gloomy souls-like games.

Critics published reviews, from which it became obvious that the first serious project of Jyamma Games turned out to be interesting, but far from ideal.

Enotria has an interesting world, great style, complex gameplay and unusual role-playing system. The developers had a lot of interesting and non-standard ideas, but experts agree that most of them could not be realised at a decent level due to the inexperience of the team and a small budget.

The main drawbacks are not the best technical execution and overcomplicated character development system, which provides many unusual opportunities, but due to the fact that it is not easy to understand, its potential will not be appreciated by all players.

The concept of turning into defeated enemies by putting on their masks looks attractive and expands gameplay mechanics, but it also has flaws, which are also related to the inexperience of the developers.

On Steam, Enotria: The Last Song is receiving "mostly positive reviews", but critics have rated the game more strictly:

  • on OpenCritic - 73 points with 33% of recommendations;
  • on Metacritic - 74 points.

Flashback

Character development in Enotria is realised with the help of a system of masks, each of which gives the hero unique abilities and bonuses. Three masks can be used simultaneously in the game, but you need to switch between them in time.

In Enotria: The Last Song, the gamer will have to become the Maskless One - the only one who decides his own fate and can save the world from the crazy play in which its inhabitants are stuck.
