Riot Games has laid off 32 people: 27 of them were actively working on League of Legends

Over the past year, it's been a miracle in the gaming industry that we've gone a week without news of layoffs in the industry. This time, the layoffs took place at Riot Games, which created League of Legends and Valorant.

Here's What We Know

32 developers were fired. Of these, 27 were actively working on League of Legends, and five were from Riot's publishing division.

The company said that the layoffs are part of a long-term goal, but are not done to save money.

Riot employees will receive six months' salary and an annual bonus, as well as health insurance and employment assistance.

As a reminder, in early 2024, Riot laid off 530 employees.

Finally, Riot said that the League of Legends team "will eventually become even bigger than it is today" as Riot prepares for the "next phase" of the MOBA.
