Samsung, ARM and Rebellions announce joint work on 2nm artificial intelligence accelerator chip

Samsung has announced a partnership with ADTechnology, ARM and Rebellions to develop a new processor platform with artificial intelligence. Under this partnership, Samsung Foundry will manufacture chips using its advanced 2nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) technology.

Here's What We Know

These chips will target the AI/ML, cloud, data centre and high-performance computing (HPC) segments. Rebellions will integrate its REBEL artificial intelligence accelerator with ADTechnology's ADTechnology compute chiplet based on ARM Neoverse Compute Subsystems (CSS) V3 technology. Samsung Foundry will utilise its latest 2nm advanced chip packaging technology. The new chip promises unprecedented performance and 2-3 times improved power efficiency for GenAI workloads, utilising high bandwidth memory (HBM).

This collaboration aims to significantly expand the computational capabilities of artificial intelligence and create a standard for scalable and efficient chip solutions. ARM's Total Design programme, introduced last year, will facilitate faster development of custom chips, accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies and design solutions for hyperscaling and cloud service providers.
