Pentagon cannot confirm that DPRK sent military to Russia for war against Ukraine

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin said he could not confirm reports that North Korea had sent troops to Russia. However, he added that if this is true, such a move is worrying.

Here's What We Know

South Korea's intelligence agency has reported that North Korea has sent 1,500 special forces troops to the Russian Far East. Probably for training and acclimatisation at local military bases, in order to later go to war against Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused North Korea of preparing to send 10,000 soldiers to help Moscow in the war. However, NATO chief Mark Rutte said this week that there is no evidence of Pyongyang's presence in a war against Ukraine.

Both Russia and North Korea have denied allegations that North Korea may have sent some troops to help Russia against Ukraine.
