Apple introduces 3D photo and video support in Safari for Vision Pro

Apple Vision Pro users will soon be able to view spatial photos and videos in the Safari browser. This was reported by Apple product manager Della Huff and designer Billy Sorrentino in an interview with PetaPixel.

Here's What We Know

Apple employees said that web developers will be able to integrate spatial content into their websites, which will allow viewing it in 3D on Vision Pro.

You can take spatial photos and videos with the iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models, as well as the Vision Pro itself. Support for iPhone 15 snapshots will be available in iOS 18.1, which will be released soon.

Currently, spatial content can only be viewed in Vision Pro via notifications or AirDrop. However, with the new Safari features, users will be able to upload their work to websites. For those who don't have Vision Pro, spatial media will be displayed in the usual 2D format.

Support is expected to be available by the end of the year as part of the visionOS 2.2 update.
