The kings of role-playing games are back! Critics praised Dragon Age: The Veilguard and debunked the fears of fans of BioWare's iconic game

Only three days are left before the release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. After the start of the active advertising campaign, many gamers were sceptical about the fourth part of the famous fantasy role-playing game series by the once famous and beloved BioWare studio.

After several unsuccessful releases, the reputation of the developers was tarnished, but judging by the first reviews, the Canadian company has made conclusions, corrected the mistakes and is ready to surprise gamers again.

Here's What We Know

Major gaming publications began to publish reviews of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which should reassure gamers who feared another failure. Experts stated that everything that gamers loved Dragon Age franchise for is present in the new part.

The Veilguard has a great story, amazing cast, phenomenal elaboration of each character and their personal stories, complex system of companion relationships, a lot of controversial situations in which players will have to make difficult choices, and great music.

Unfortunately, it's not without its flaws. Some reviewers called the gameplay of The Veilguard boring and the game world lifeless, but it should be noted that BioWare did not promise a detailed simulation of the open world, but instead will offer a set of semi-open locations, as it was in the first and second parts of Dragon Age.

In general, critics conclude that BioWare has learnt from the mistakes of the past and may well take the lead in RPG development again.

As a result, Dragon Age: The Veilguard received the following scores on aggregators:

  • Opencritic - 83 points with 81% of recommendations;
  • Metacritic - 80 points for the PC version;
  • Metacritic - 84 points for the PS5 version;
  • Metacritic - 93 points for the Xbox Series version.

When We Can Expect It

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will release on 31 October on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
