The network reported low demand for the iPhone 16 in the US: Why could the new product not repeat the success of the iPhone 15?

The launch of the iPhone 16 series in the US was not as impressive as its predecessors.

Here's What We Know

Although the new chip and camera control button sound interesting, many users believe that it is not enough for a big "wow effect".

According to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the basic iPhone 16 took only 4% of total sales in the third quarter of 2024, while its predecessor, the iPhone 15, took 10% in 2023.

This is especially noticeable for the 16 and 16 Plus models, which are the lowest performers. Meanwhile, the Pro and Pro Max remain afloat, but overall sales of the iPhone 16 series were only 20% compared to 28% for the iPhone 15.

This indicates that consumers may be favouring previous models, such as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which remains popular due to its affordability and functionality.
