On 5 November 2024, during the International Fighter Conference (IFC) in Berlin, an agreement was signed to purchase 25 additional Typhoon fighters in the Tranche 4 modification for the Spanish Air Force. These aircraft will replace the US EF-18M, known as C.15 in the Spanish classification.

The agreement was signed as part of the Halcon II modernisation programme, which aims to upgrade the Spanish air force by ordering the latest fighter aircraft.

This deal is part of the second order, and the country will soon have 45 new aircraft.

Spain began discussions on a new acquisition in 2023, when Secretary of State for Defence Amparo Valcarce said that further purchases would depend on the successful completion of the previous contract.

In addition to Spain, the Eurofighter consortium has announced that it expects new orders for the Typhoon from other countries. For example, Qatar plans to order a second batch of 12 aircraft, Saudi Arabia is considering purchasing an additional 54 aircraft, Turkey may order 40 aircraft, and Poland is interested in 32 units.

In addition, customer countries receive not only modern fighters, but also the opportunity to join the production process, including the production of components for Typhoon aircraft.
