It's official: Take-Two has sold publisher Private Division to an unnamed buyer

A lot of interesting news from Take-Two Interactive came today.

We've already reported on the excellent sales of the GTA and RDR game franchises, and the following news concerns one of the company's divisions.

Here's What We Know

A few months ago, media outlets reported that the Media: Take-Two intends to sell or shut down Private Division, a publisher that has been dedicated to supporting independent developers, a small publishing label that specialised in working with independent developers and helped release games such as The Outer Worlds, Kerbal Space Program 2, OlliOlli World, After Us and Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.

During a call with investors, Take-Two management confirmed the sale of Private Division to an unnamed buyer and the amount of the deal also remained unknown. However, in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that the buyer's name will be revealed "relatively soon".

Take-Two thanked Private Division for its contribution to the company and wished it good luck in its new endeavour.

In turn, Take-Two will move away from working with indie studios and focus on creating big-budget and mobile games.
