Samsung Wallet turns Galaxy smartphones into digital keys for Audi cars

Samsung Wallet now allows Galaxy smartphone owners to use their devices as digital keys for Audi cars.

Here's What We Know

The new Digital Key feature, which uses ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, allows you to lock, unlock and start your car without a physical key. If the phone is lost, the key can be deactivated remotely via the Samsung Find service.

The feature is compatible with Audi models such as the A6 e-tron, Q6 e-tron and A5, and is supported on Galaxy devices with Android 13 and above. Users can share digital keys with friends and family by granting or revoking access remotely.

Samsung is focusing on security, using EAL6+ standards and requiring biometric authentication or a PIN to access the car. The rollout of the feature will begin in November in Europe, including the UK, Spain, Italy, France and Germany, with global expansion to follow.
