Apple is preparing to release AirTag 2 with better connectivity and improved privacy

According to recent reports, Apple is planning to release the much-anticipated AirTag 2 in 2025.

Here's What We Know

The new model will feature an improved wireless chip, likely a second-generation ultra-wideband (U2) chip that will provide better connectivity and longer range than the original AirTag. This will make it easier to find the tracker.

Apple will also make design changes to improve privacy. This will include making it harder to remove the inbuilt speaker, which will prevent attackers from using the AirTag for stalking.

According to insider Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the AirTag 2 has already passed production tests and is ready for release. It is expected to look similar to the original model, but with three key improvements: a new chip, increased range, and improved privacy.

Along with AirTag 2, Apple also plans to release a new smart home display and updated versions of the iPad Air, entry-level iPad, MacBook Air, Mac Pro, Mac Studio, and iPhone SE in 2025.
