South Korea remains opposed to direct arms supplies to Ukraine, according to recent polls, despite renewed international requests from Kyiv due to the involvement of North Korean troops on the side of Russia.

Here's What We Know

At the same time, they acknowledge that the growing ties between Russia and the DPRK pose a threat to Seoul. The poll was conducted against the backdrop of the Ukrainian president's statement that the country plans to send a request to South Korea for weapons - 82% oppose sending military aid, including weapons.

"There will be fewer benefits for the South Korean government to continue to support (military aid) when there is little domestic support and relations with the next US government may deteriorate," said Yang Wook, an analyst at the Asan Policy Institute.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov has arrived in South Korea to meet with President Yun Seok-yeol. In particular, Umerov is expected to present data on the DPRK's cooperation with Russia and call for support for Ukraine. Both sides agreed to continue exchanging information on North Korea and Russia.
