OpenAI prepares to launch Sora: a new generation of AI for creating video from text
OpenAI is planning to launch its new Sora model soon, which is capable of generating videos based on text descriptions.
Here's What We Know
Sora is expected to be unveiled in the coming days, along with a new AI reasoning model and other products, as part of OpenAI's 12 Days of OpenAI event, which starts tomorrow, 5 December. Sources familiar with the project said Sora will be available by the end of 2024.
The model was announced in early 2024 and has already been tested by a small group of artists, some of whom have expressed dissatisfaction with unpaid labour. OpenAI has been criticised for using data from publicly available videos on YouTube, which may violate the platform's terms of service.
In addition to OpenAI, Google is also working on a similar technology called Veo, which is already available to Google Vertex AI users.
