Here's What We Know

This step is Norway's contribution to NATO's integrated air and missile defence. The aircraft will be on standby to support the Alliance in the region.

Earlier in December, Norway deployed NASAMS air defence systems to Rzeszów, Poland, to protect the logistics hub through which 90 per cent of international military aid to Ukraine passes. The mission also includes 100 Norwegian troops. The operation is expected to last until Easter.

The logistics centre in Rzeszów is located less than 100 km from the border with Ukraine. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, it has become a key destination for international delegations visiting Ukraine.

Last November, Germany offered to deploy the Patriot system in Poland as part of NATO's cooperation.
