The Ukrainian Defence Forces have received almost €538 million worth of weapons thanks to the Danish model.

Here's What We Know

In 2024, Ukraine received almost €538 million worth of weapons through a new financing mechanism initiated with Denmark. The funding came from the governments of Denmark (€125 million), Sweden (€20 million), Iceland (€2.7 million) and frozen Russian assets (€390 million).

The first result of the Danish model was the supply of 155-mm Bohdan self-propelled artillery systems. Subsequently, the production of drones, anti-tank and anti-ship missiles was financed.

Procurement from the Ukrainian defence industry has significant advantages:

- fast delivery times;

- competitive prices;

- the ability to organise training and maintenance near the frontline.

In addition, such purchases support the Ukrainian economy in times of war, allowing it to preserve jobs and promote the development of domestic industry.

It is worth explaining that this initiative involves financing of Ukrainian defence companies by the Danish government and other countries. The projects are agreed upon by Ukraine, and Danish experts assess the potential of the manufacturers. Procurement has a number of advantages, including fast delivery, competitive prices and support for the Ukrainian economy.

Denmark has already reserved €135 million for 2025, and another €43 million is expected from Norway.
