AI startup Anthropic has raised $100m from Korean telecoms giant SK Telecom
Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI executives, has raised $100 million from SK Telecom (SKT), one of South Korea's largest mobile operators.
Here's What We Know
SKT said that together with Anthropic, they plan to develop a multilingual model designed for global telcos. It will allow the four members of the Global Telco AI Alliance to offer AI developments customised for their users in each market. The language model will support English, Korean, German, Japanese, Arabic and Spanish.
Anthropic co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer Jared Kaplan will lead the overall direction of the model and product roadmap.
Anthropic raised $450 million in Series C funding in May. At that time, the round was led by Spark Capital. SKT also participated in the funding through its venture capital arm SK Telecom Venture Capital (SKTVC).
