Hollywood studios have unveiled their proposal, which calls for the highest pay rise for screenwriters in 35 years and protects them from artificial intelligence.

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) has confirmed that the work of generative AI cannot be considered literary material. Studios have agreed to assure screenwriters that the use of artificial intelligence will not affect their compensation, copyrights or credits.
The offer, sent to the Writers Guild of America (WGA), includes a 13 per cent pay increase over three years. Prior to the strike, they were offered a 9% pay increase.
The union also conceded to the WGA's proposal to implement a residual royalty model for streaming based on viewership.
The writers' strike has been ongoing for more than 100 days. The union said it continues to exchange proposals with AMPTP and plans to meet with them this week.
