Baidu has opened access to artificial intelligence chatbot Ernie Bot to everyone

Chinese internet giant Baidu, which specialises in artificial intelligence, has put a chatbot Ernie, a competitor of ChatGPT, into the public domain.

Here's What We Know

Ernie Bot is able to generate text and images in response to users' questions and prompts in natural language. The chatbot is available through an official website and an app available only in Chinese shops.

Baidu CEO Robin Li said the public release of the model will allow developers to gather feedback from real people, which will help improve Ernie and the company's underlying models.

Hours after its launch, Ernie Bot topped the free app chart on China's App Store.
