Chinese IT giant Baidu's chatbot Ernie Bot, which is described as an analogue of ChatGPT, has reached the 100 million users mark. This was announced by the chief technical officer of the company Wang Haifeng.
Here's What We Know
Ernie Bot launched in March 2022 on the wave of the success of ChatGPT from US-based OpenAI. This spurred many IT companies in China to develop their own generative AI-based solutions.
Despite the initial cool reaction of experts, Ernie Bot has emerged as a leader in the Chinese chatbot market according to the SuperCLUE rating. However, its language conversion capabilities are still behind the latest version of ChatGPT by more than 10 points out of 100.
Baidu expects that generative AI technologies will help the company to strengthen its positions in key business areas - search engines, cloud services and unmanned transport.
