Google announced a stable version of Nearby Share for Windows-based computers
Google started testing Nearby Share on Windows computers this spring. Now a stable version of the feature has been released.
Here's What We Know
Nearby Share is an analogue of Apple AirDrop, Samsung Quick Share and Huawei Share. The function works on the same principle. First you need to select a file, link or photo and click Nearby Share in the "Share" section. After that, a list of nearby devices will appear in a pop-up window.
Users can customise visibility as well as send files anonymously. Nearby Share works over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and via WebRTC (Web Real Time Communications) technology. You'll need to install a separate app on your laptop for the feature to work. It's compatible with devices based on Windows 10 and above. Unfortunately, there is no support for ARM platforms yet.
