Pratt & Whitney has received funding from the US Department of Defence to support the production of the 18th batch of F135 engines for the F-35 Lightning II. This was announced on the Pentagon's website.

Here's What We Know

A few days ago we wrote that the Pentagon allocated $163.26 million to the company to support the production of the 17th batch of F135 aircraft engines. Now Pratt & Whitney has received $305.6 million for procurement of long lead time materials to support small-scale production of the 18th batch.

The agreement runs through July 2026. Work under the contract will take place at Pratt & Whitney plants in Connecticut, Washington, Indiana, California, Michigan, Oregon and other US states.

Lot 18 includes 118 fifth-generation fighters. Lockheed Martin has been awarded $1.05bn to build the aircraft for the US Air Force, US Navy, US Marine Corps and foreign customers.
