Man arrested in the US for trying to use a fake e-ticket using a QR code

Fraudsters are using photos of QR codes of boarding passes as a new tool to break through security gates at airports.

In Salt Lake City, Utah, a man was arrested at the airport as he tried to use a fake boarding pass whose photo was taken from another passenger's QR code.

The suspect attempted to pass through the security gate and presented the other passenger's fake boarding pass. However, surveillance at the airport revealed suspicious behaviour when the detainee tried to open an emergency storage locker and later headed straight for the toilet.

After the crew stopped him, it became known that his boarding pass was fake and he was a stowaway. Court documents state that the accused admitted his mistake. The man claimed that he was only trying to get home. He currently remains in jail and is awaiting charges from the authorities.
