Finland's largest mobile operators will stop selling Xiaomi products because the company has not left the Russian market
The three largest mobile operators in Finland will stop selling Xiaomi gadgets. The reason is that the Chinese company has not left the Russian market.
Here's What We Know
Cellular operators Gigantti and Verkkokokauppa so far continue to sell products of the company from Beijing. This is due to the fact that officially the sale of Xiaomi gadgets is not prohibited by the authorities of the European Union.
Cellular operator Elisa will narrow the range of devices of the Chinese company. This was announced by the director of consumer devices business Olli-Pekka Nokkonen. DNA has stopped displaying Xiaomi smartphones in its shops. It plans to sell off stock and will not realise new devices. Telia will do the same.
Retailer Veikon Kone stopped selling Xiaomi smartphones back in the summer. It later reversed its decision after competitors refused to follow suit. However, the retailer will not sell new models of Xiaomi devices.
The actions of Finnish retailers and mobile operators are linked to the decision of the Ukrainian National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption to list international sponsors of war. This was made in April 2023.
