Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff buys land in Hawaii
Billionaire and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff surprised the world with his decision to buy large plots of land in Hawaii. Despite the fact that most middle-class Americans are struggling to buy their own homes, Marc Benioff and other billionaires are actively investing in land assets around the world.
Here's What We Know
Salesforce is a leading software company specialising in Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Their products help companies interact effectively with customers, automate sales, marketing and customer service processes, and analyse data to make strategic decisions. Salesforce is also known for its philanthropic initiatives.
According to NPR, Marc Benioff recently acquired "at least 38 parcels of land" in Hawaii through six anonymous companies and one non-profit organisation. This vast land area, valued at approximately $100 million, consists of nearly 600 acres that are mostly located on the Big Island and include part of the city of Waimea.
While some of the land has been donated to charity, other purchases remain a mystery. An NPR journalist tried to get an explanation from Mark Benioff, but he avoided direct questions about the purpose of his land investments.
Marc Benioff refused to comment further and explain his motives, focusing mainly on his charitable efforts and philosophy of selflessness. Such activity raises questions about the possible implications for the public and calls for attention to regulation and transparency in the sector.
