Ford offers free Tesla Supercharger adapters for lime trees to owners of electric vehicles
Ford is introducing a new programme that gives owners of electric vehicles the opportunity to receive free adapters for Tesla Supercharger charging stations until 1 July this year.
Here's What We Know
The adapters, manufactured by Tesla, will allow Ford electric vehicle owners to charge their vehicles at thousands of Supercharger charging stations located across the United States and Canada.
Ford is offering its customers the first adapter free of charge as the first step in their plan to adopt Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) for their electric vehicles. Ford is looking to standardise the charging process for its electric vehicles by using the same connector as Tesla to provide greater compatibility and convenience for EV owners. However, the company warns that supply will be limited and recommends that customers reserve an adapter through the FordPass app.
While access to the adapters is free until July, after that period, customers will be able to purchase the adapter for US$230, plus taxes and shipping costs.
