The store was selling Anthem for one cent, just to get rid of the game

Anthem was a major failure by EA and BioWare, the reverberations of which haunt us to this day. For example, in order to run out of leftovers with physical copies of Anthem, the American store sold the game for one cent!

The story is told by ClockLava user in her TikTok. She said the following:

  • ClockLava walked into a GameStop store and saw Anthem priced at one cent. At first, ClockLava couldn't even believe her eyes and asked the sellers if this price was real.
  • The copy of the game was used, but no one wanted to buy it so much that a whole bunch of pasted prices accumulated on the cover - the price had to be changed often.
  • As the GameStop seller explained, usually games that don't sell at all are simply removed from the shelves, but sometimes they are discounted.
  • ClockLava rummaged in her purse for a cent. In the end, the seller gave the game away for free - taking on this amazing lack of cash!

ClockLava devoted two more tik toks to the unfortunate Anthem, first the user checked if the game worked at all, and then admitted that she even liked Anthem. ClockLava decided to stream Anthem on his Twitch.

Anthem really had a sad story: the game was developed for about seven years, but the result was weak, the production process was painful, and the service support quickly failed. Then they tried to save Anthem with radical changes, but after a few months the relaunch was canceled - that was the end of it. Unless the servers are still working.
