More than 40,000 accounts have been blocked for fraud in Dota 2
Valve has confirmed that it has recently blocked more than 40,000 Dota 2 player accounts that used malware to gain an advantage in the game. The software in question could access internal information used by the Dota client that was not visible during the game.
Although the company does not specify what data was used by the attackers, some players suggest that one of the advantages could be to receive a notification when a player was in an enemy zone. Some of the players used the software even at semi-professional levels, which allowed them to win matches.

However, it seems that Valve's technical team did notice the cheaters' activity and all their accounts were deleted. So far, this is the largest purge in the game since its inception.
