10 million dollars wasted: CD Projekt RED announces it has restarted development of The Witcher spin-off, working title Project Sirius
CD Projekt RED announced the development of a cooperative spin-off of The Witcher, tentatively titled Project Sirius, back in October 2022.
Almost nothing is known about the game, but the fact that its development has stalled is already obvious.
This conclusion can be drawn from a recent statement to investors, in which the developers of the Polish company directly reported that they have spent $9.7 million, but the team has decided to start developing the game from scratch. And the money spent will be written off the company's balance sheet.
Project executives have reviewed the game's scope and concept and have concluded that they need to change them.
The Molasses Flood studio, which was acquired by CD Projekt in 2021, is still working on Project Sirius.
