Rumour: The Last of Us composer hints that an extended edition of the second part may be in the works

Gustavo Santaolalla, the composer of The Last of Us series of games, has hinted that an expanded edition of The Last of Us Part II may be in development.

Here's What We Know

On the Blender podcast, Gustavo said that "in the new version, you can ask me to play certain songs, but I can't tell you anything else." What exactly the composer meant is a mystery. Most likely, we are talking about The Last of Us Part II Director's Cut, which will add additional and deleted content to the game and is due to be released on PlayStation 5 (and possibly on PC).

We would like to remind you that at the very beginning of the second part of The Last of Us, you can meet Gustavo sitting on the street playing the banjo, but you cannot interact with him. The new TLoU 2 edition should fix this and other aspects.

Flashback

The Last of Us Part II was released in the summer of 2020 exclusively on PlayStation 4. On PS5, only one patch was released for the game, which allows you to play the game at 60 fps. And considering that in 2022 we saw a remake of the first The Last of Us, which was released on PlayStation 5 and PC, the development of an updated second part is quite real.
