The science fiction film Moonfall, according to famed physicist-astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson, violates more laws of physics than Armageddon does

Renowned astronomical physicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has said that the film Moonfall violates more laws of physics than any other film he has seen, including Armageddon.

Here's What We Know

Tyson has previously criticised the Bruce Willis film for its physics inaccuracies, but now the place of most unrealistic film in terms of science has been taken by the Moonfall project. A physicist calls the idea of a hollow moon approaching Earth unrealistic.

The experienced astrophysicist expressed his opinion that Moonfall, starring Halle Berry, has little adherence to scientific facts in the disaster film genre in an interview with The Jess Cagle Show.

In a detailed dissection of the film directed by Roland Emmerich, Tyson stated that Moonfall demonstrates an exaggerated approach to solving problems that could have been solved in much simpler ways. The scientist suggests that since there is no friction in space, the space body could have been nudged slightly and this would have prevented it from directly colliding with Earth, or alternatively, they could have slowed it down so that the body passed behind Earth.

"Alright, I thought Armageddon had a secure hold on this crown, but apparently not," - Tyson told SiriusXM on the SiriusXM broadcast.

Here's What The Movie Is About

Tyson's critically-acclaimed film Moonfall was released in January 2022 and is about Brian Harpert, a former astronaut who tries to convince NASA that an unexplained phenomenon is happening on the moon. 10 years later, the moon suddenly goes out of orbit and goes on a collision course with the Earth, triggering multiple cataclysms and threatening the demise of humanity. The self-styled astronomer who first noticed this anomaly unsuccessfully tries to reach the government, so he asks the retired Harper for help.

"Moonfall" is considered a commercial failure. With $150 million invested in production, the project collected only $67 million at the global box office. This failure is attributed to the plot, which both critics and filmgoers found ridiculous. The plot was also riddled with a lot of unnecessary clichés, and the chemistry between most of the actors was almost non-existent in some cases.
