Chad Stahelski can't let go of the John Wick franchise and has stated that the story will continue in an anime format, which he is already working on
Chad Stahleski says that the John Wick franchise has plans for the future and they are going to realise them through animation.
Here's What We Know
During his appearance on The Discourse podcast, Stahleski revealed information about a unique animation project related to John Wick. It turns out that the anime is being created with Japanese talent, and with any luck, this could develop into a full-fledged television series in the future.
The director noted that he loves Japanese animation and will enjoy the process anyway, besides, the anime will help expand the world of John Wick:
"We're really looking forward to that. We're really excited about it because we're doing... a Japanese anime because I love Japanese anime so much. So to create all the cool stories that anime can achieve better than we can, and the TV show to expand our world. We'll still get our fix, you know what I mean? And we'll still have all the fun." - The director said, and added: "I think for TV especially, world-building and action – those two have stayed pretty separate. But if you to try and combine them and give fans [both]? Look, I love the slow-burn too, but after six episodes, I would like something to happen in my TV shows, you know? So to try and bring that to TV what we do with features would be really exciting."
Well, it seems that at the moment, all of Stahelski's creative efforts are focused on developing an animation based on John Wick, and this bodes well for the project. Now all that's left for management to do is find the perfect overseas studio.
