Next-gen Souls-like: IGN published a video about the combat system of the ambitious action game Black Myth: WuKong

Visitors of gamescom 2023 will be able to try the demo version of Chinese action game Black Myth: WuKong. But the author of IGN portal has already got the opportunity to get acquainted with the promising game from Game Science studio and shared his impressions about the combat system of Black Myth: WuKong.

Here's What We Know

The preview material shows that the combat system of Black Myth: WuKong is reminiscent of souls-like games, but has a lot of unique elements. Players can freely combine different types of blows, as well as use a variety of magic, such as setting the staff on fire or coating it with poison.

In addition, the Monkey King, the game's protagonist, can change his appearance and thus gain other abilities specific to the person he has turned into.

The direction and strength of his blows depends on the chosen fighting stance. In the preview version there were three stances available, and each of them had its own advantages and disadvantages

Black Myth: WuKong is a challenging game that involves fighting powerful bosses. IGN preview mentions four such enemies, three of which didn't give the journalist any difficulties, but the fourth one, which is not so easy to reach, turned out to be the most dangerous and it took the reviewer more than an hour to defeat it.

There will be no open world in Black Myth: Wukong. The game is divided into spacious semi-open locations, where you can move freely.

When We Can Expect It

The release date of Black Myth: Wukong is unknown, the game is expected to be released in the summer of 2024 on PC and unnamed consoles.
