"One of the most incredible acquisitions": EA CEO talks about the success of his work with Respawn and hints at the studio's future games
Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson spoke at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia & Technology Conference about the success of the acquisition of Respawn and the projects it is currently working on.
Here's What We Know
EA acquired Respawn (authors of Titanfall, Apex Legends, and Star Wars Jedi) in 2017 for $455 million. Andrew noted Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi the most. These two Respawn projects brought good reviews and profits.
He also added that this was one of the most incredible acquisitions ever made in the video game industry, and the studio has a lot more interesting things in store for players. Most likely, the hint was about the third part of Star Wars Jedi. Given the success of the first two games, the trilogy will definitely see the light of day. Officially, we know about 2 more games in the Star Wars universe: a first-person shooter and a strategy game. But there may be a new IP in the pipeline, which the team is not yet ready to announce.
Flashback
A year before the acquisition, Respawn released a good shooter Titanfall 2, which can be bought on Steam for $3 until 18 September.
