Rumours: multiplayer game in The Last of Us universe was supposed to support lobbies of up to 40 players
A multiplayer game in the universe of The Last of Us seemed like an ambitious project, but it fell into production hell. Kotaku portal wrote that the game was actually frozen, and the news that the chief monetisation designer of the project left Naughty Dog after 10 months of work only confirms this fact. However, thanks to new information from one of the developers, we can at least imagine the scale of the game.
Here's What We Know
The LinkedIn profile of Ian Blake, who was a game designer at Naughty Dog until June 2023, revealed that he was working in the studio on an unannounced online project, which is probably the multiplayer game The Last of Us. He indicated that he was creating a lobby that supports up to 40 players, as well as creating other systems. That is, we were supposed to expect a large-scale 20v20 mode, but whether we will ever see it is a big mystery.
