Looking for the best sony subwoofer to complete my home theater

Just upgraded to a 75" Sony OLED and now my sound system feels lacking. Thinking about getting a Sony soundbar with subwoofer to match, but I'm lost in all the options. My living room is about 20x15 feet with 9-foot ceilings. I'm big on movies and gaming, with some weekend music sessions. Trying to keep it under $1000 if possible, but flexible for the right setup. Any recommendations for the best sony subwoofer or soundbar+sub combo? I've heard their wireless subs are good, but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

Nice upgrade! For a room your size, you'll want to balance power with control. Look for a sub with a driver around 10 inches - it'll give you that low-end punch without overwhelming the space. Pay attention to the wattage too, sometimes it's better to have a slightly less powerful sub that you can push harder, rather than a beast you have to keep on a leash all the time.

Keep an eye on that crossover frequency when you're shopping. It's where the sub takes over from the main speakers. Too high, and things sound muddy. Too low, and you miss out on that punch.

True that. Had a buddy who ignored crossover and wondered why his system sounded off. Baker, it's worth reading up on it a bit. Makes a big difference when everything's dialed in right.

If you're serious about finding the best sony soundbar with subwoofer, check out the breakdown on soundguys.com. They've got a detailed article “how to setup at home surround sound audio”, including subwoofer performance. Really helped me narrow down my choices when I was in your position.

Have you considered the Sony HT-A7000? It's a bit above your budget, but man, it might be the best Sony sound bar with subwoofer I've tried. The sub really brings movies to life without drowning out the dialogue.

Word of warning: once you experience good bass, there's no going back. You'll be that person always complaining about the "thin" sound at other people's houses. Welcome to the club! xD

Don't overlook proper placement of your subwoofer. Even the best Sony sub can sound mediocre if it's shoved in a corner. Try the "subwoofer crawl" technique to find the sweet spot in your room.

Subwoofer crawl? Sounds like a new Olympic sport! But jokes aside, it really does make a difference. Just warn your family before they find you crawling around the living room with a subwoofer. :D

If you want to stay under budget but still get solid performance, look into the sony ht-g700. It's not the absolute best sony subwoofer out there, but for the price, it's hard to beat. The wireless sub packs a punch, and the whole system has some neat virtualization tech for a wider soundstage.

Once you've got your setup, don't be afraid to mess with the settings. Spent a whole weekend tweaking mine - drove my girlfriend nuts, but man, the difference was night and day. Trust your ears, not just the manual.
