Ukraine has officially confirmed the defeat of Russian air defence systems in Crimea - the media write about the use of modified Neptun missiles with a warhead weighing 350 kg
In the morning, missiles and drones struck a Russian anti-aircraft missile system on the territory of the Crimean peninsula. Ukraine has officially confirmed its involvement.
Here's What We Know
"Ukrainska Pravda" reported, citing its own source, that the $1.2 billion S-400 Triumf air defence system was destroyed in Crimea. The radar stations of the complex were hit by drones and modified Neptun anti-ship missiles struck the launchers.
A couple of hours later, the Strategic Communications Department of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief's Office officially confirmed that the Ukrainian Defence Forces were behind the attack. The statement did not mention the Neptun missiles or the S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile systems.
Note that a few weeks ago Ukraine already used a modified version of the anti-ship missile to destroy the S-400 in Crimea. Ukraine was able to modify the Neptune to hit ground targets. The launch range increased from 280 kilometres to 400 kilometres. The warhead has a weight of 350kg.
