Germany won't give Ukraine Taurus cruise missiles because Chancellor Scholz is afraid of russia and fears for the safety of the Kerch bridge
Time is passing, but Ukraine is no closer to receiving German Taurus cruise missiles. Deliveries of the long-range weapon are blocked by Olaf Scholz.
Here's What We Know
The Federal Chancellor has found several justifications for his decision. Firstly, Scholz believes that the Taurus deliveries will lead to an escalation in relations with the Russian Federation. Secondly, he is worried because the Ukrainian Armed Forces could strike the Kerch Bridge with cruise missiles.
The chancellor also mentioned some kind of constitutional restrictions, but did not specify what exactly they were talking about. According to Scholz, the war will go on for a long time, so Germany has time to make a decision.
The federal chancellor made this statement during the EU summit in Spain on 5 October 2023. On the same day, Russia killed more than 50 people in the village of Groza in the Kharkiv region, and a day later launched a strike on the centre of Kharkiv that killed a 10-year-old boy. Good thing such actions are not escalation, unlike strikes on Russian military installations.
