Ukraine may receive about 100 Leopard 1 tanks from Greece
Germany has asked Greece to transfer Leopard 1 tanks to Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
The information was shared by the publication Flight. It is a circular exchange, during which Ukraine will receive about 100 Leopard 1 tanks from Greece, and Germany, in turn, will give the Greeks the former Italian modernised Leopard 1A5 tanks. They have undergone major overhauls and have an updated fire control system, a new thermal imaging sight, and improved armour. By the way, Ukraine earlier also wanted to receive these vehicles, but the delivery was blocked by Switzerland.
As for the Greek Leopard 1s, they have not been modernised for a long time. Therefore, Germany wants to take them from Greece, repair and improve them. After that, the tanks are planned to be sent to the AFU. All the costs of maintenance of the vehicles will be covered by Germany.
