Airspeeder Mk4 - a 1,340bhp Formula 1-style racing drone that can reach speeds of 360km/h in 30 seconds
Airspeeder has unveiled a new racing drone. It looks like a Formula 1 car and is called Airspeeder Mk4.
Here's What We Know
The drone is equipped with a 1,340 horsepower (1,000 kW) propulsion system. A hydrogen turbocharger allows the drone to reach a speed of 360 km/h in half a minute. The Mk4 can travel up to 300 km on a single fill-up.
The body of the drone is made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic, but it weighs 950 kg. There is special software which will be responsible for rotation of rotors during flight.
Airspeeder Mk4 has overall dimensions of 5.73 x 3.62 x 1.44 meters. The Australian company said it is already flight-testing the quadcopter. On March 9 at the Southstart festival in South Australia, Airspeeder will show the novelty in action, and the race with the new UAV will begin in more than a year.
