Buk-M1 SAM destroyed a Russian airplane without firing a single missile
Hero of Ukraine and commander of the Buk-M1 missile battery told how he managed to destroy a Russian plane without wasting missiles on it.

Yaroslav Melnyk is the commander of the Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile battery. He has already destroyed 28 enemy air targets. Among them are 11 combat aircraft of the Russian army, two helicopters and two cruise missiles. The rest of the targets are unmanned aerial vehicles.

One of the planes managed to be eliminated without launching any missiles. As it turned out, the Russian pilot ejected after the Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile system was activated by the radar illumination. As a result, the plane itself crashed.
