russia began using the latest fifth-generation Su-57 fighters, but is afraid to cross Ukrainian airspace
British intelligence reports that Russia is using its latest fifth-generation Su-57 stealth fighters in the war against Ukraine. However, they do not leave Russian Federation territory.
Here's What We Know
The first use of the Su-57 supersonic aircraft was recorded back in June last year. The air and space forces used the fifth-generation fighters to launch long-range air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles.
(1/6) Since at least June 2022, Russian Aerospace Forces have almost certainly used Su-57 FELON to conduct missions against Ukraine. The FELON is Russia's most advanced fifth-generation supersonic combat jet, employing stealth technologies and highly advanced avionics.

The UK Ministry of Defence claims that Russia is afraid to use the Su-57 directly in Ukrainian airspace. This is due to the Ukrainian air defense system and the desire to avoid reputational losses in case the planes are destroyed by air defense facilities. But on the other hand it should be realized that Russia has long-range missiles and successfully uses this advantage.
